The University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, has received nearly 82.5 million dollars in funding from the United States Department of Health and Human Services. WOWT reported that Representative Don Bacon, a Republican from Nebraska, announced the funding on Wednesday following a university appreciation event. [1]
According to WOWT, the federal allotments are spread across approximately 151 individual grants and funding packages. The total sum includes roughly 23.8 million dollars assigned to new projects alongside 58.6 million dollars designated for renewed and supplemental research and public health initiatives. [1]
The financial support originates from sub-agencies within the health department, including the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, WOWT reported. The funds will directly support scientific research and community health services administered by the university system. [1]
Federal funding continues to support health and nutrition research nationwide. As FTMQ Health reported earlier, researcher Daphne Hernandez recently received a four year, 2 million dollar federal grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to study nutrition education and fruit and vegetable access for pregnant women in Texas.
