Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has dismissed 15 staff members for improperly accessing the medical records of victims killed in the June 2023 Nottingham attacks, according to the Guardian. The trust conducted an investigation that also resulted in 15 final written warnings and two first written warnings being issued to employees. [1][2]
Healthcare professionals retrieved confidential files belonging to 19 year old students Barnaby Webber and Grace O O'Malley-Kumar, as well as 65 year old caretaker Ian Coates, the Guardian reported. The three victims were killed during the series of attacks in Nottingham in June 2023. [1][4]
The 2023 attacks occurred in the early morning of 13 June 2023, when Valdo Calocane fatally stabbed the two university students in the street and subsequently killed the school caretaker before stealing his van, according to Wikipedia. Calocane then drove the stolen vehicle into people at a nearby bus stop, injuring three individuals before being arrested. [1][4]
Calocane had previously complained of having repeated instances of psychosis before committing the killings, according to details from Wikipedia. NHS Scotland operates as part of the publicly funded healthcare system in the United Kingdom alongside NHS trusts in England. [3][4]
