A United States lawmaker asked the Government Accountability Office to investigate whether the TrumpRx prescription drug platform has saved consumers money, STAT News reported. Representative Frank Pallone, the ranking Democrat on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, submitted the request in a letter dated October 27, 2026. Pallone questioned official assertions regarding the financial impact of the website. [1][2]

According to STAT News, the White House claimed that the platform saved Americans $700 million after launching in February 2026. Pallone stated that the administration failed to share essential data required to evaluate if the service provided meaningful savings. TrumpRx does not dispense or sell medications directly, but instead guides users to discount coupons and direct links. [1][2]

The platform functions as a portal that routes consumers to direct-to-consumer sales options featuring negotiated cash prices. GoodRx operates as the primary technology partner displaying prices and integrating offerings from participating drug manufacturers. TrumpRx launched with 43 branded medications for conditions including weight loss, arthritis, migraines, women's health, and rare diseases, with Pfizer offering discounts on more than 30 brands. [5]

The Trump administration announced the initiative to lower out-of-pocket prescription expenses by encouraging competition and price transparency. The requested government review aims to establish whether the platform achieves its stated goals for consumer savings. [1][5]
