Teleflex Incorporated has finished enrolling 102 human patients in a European clinical study evaluating longer versions of its dissolvable magnesium coronary scaffold. MyChesCo reported that the trial focuses on patients with extensive coronary artery disease. [1]

According to MyChesCo, the BIOMAG-LL study took place across 14 European medical centers. Researchers are assessing the safety and clinical performance of 35-millimeter and 40-millimeter versions of the Freesolve Resorbable Magnesium Scaffold on previously untreated coronary artery lesions. [1]

A bioresorbable stent is a tube-like medical device placed in clogged heart arteries to restore blood flow. Unlike traditional metal options, it dissolves into the body over time, releases medication to reduce scar tissue, and helps restore normal blood vessel function. [2]

The trial aims to advance research into dissolvable magnesium scaffolds as a possible alternative to permanent metal stents for complex heart conditions, MyChesCo reported. [1]
