A 93-year-old woman was left lying on the floor for 10-and-a-half hours with broken bones following a fall at her home on 4 October, the BBC reported. Margaret Owen fell at her house, triggering her lifeline alarm at 06:15. [1]

Her son, Graham Anthony, went to her home after receiving the alarm call, according to the BBC. He placed an emergency call for an ambulance at 07:35, but help was significantly delayed. [1]

The BBC reported that a St John Ambulance worker arrived at 15:30 following a request from the Welsh Ambulance Service. An ambulance finally arrived 90 minutes later to transport Margaret Owen to the hospital. [1]

Graham Anthony told the BBC that listening to his mother repeatedly ask for help and scream in pain left him with a feeling of hopelessness. Lee Brooks, an executive at the Welsh Ambulance Service, expressed regret over the experience. [1]
