MPs call for NHS weight management overhaul following Mounjaro rollout

Members of Parliament on the Health and Social Care Committee have called for a complete overhaul of NHS weight management care, PULSE Today reported. Mounjaro, known generically as tirzepatide, received approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration in May 2022 to treat type 2 diabetes in adults. Clinical trial data from the SURPASS program demonstrated that the medication significantly lowers blood glucose levels, showing reductions in HbA1c levels of up to 2.3 percent at maximum doses when combined with diet and exercise.
